a16z should build a social network for gamers and game developers. Like the X for Steam or Twitch, but more for gaming fans. Like the Doximity for game developers and game of enthusiasts.
Reddit and X are pretty dead compared to how they used to be, same goes for Twitch. Reading Steam reviews only takes you so far. There has to be a better way.
Niche platforms are the way to go now, Game developers deserve that, especially with all these indie gamers succeeding so wildly. The truth is, Meta or Google no longer have great targeting for even Ads. So a niche gaming network could not only boost the entire ecosystem, but do fairly well with Ads that actual target different kinds of gamers.
We the consumer would buy even more games if we had more insights into the personal brand and struggles of game developers. It would legitimize gaming media entirely, where gaming journalists can barely make it in the current world. It would create influencers among gaming enthusiasts and gaming E-sports personalities. It could lead to entirely great things that wouldn’t be possible otherwise.
Very interesting. I was wondering, did you see the 15 seconds video craze first and climb up to the original post or spot the original post first and watch the internet blow from that?
Awesome!

Having spent a shameful amount of time in gaming discords and subreddits I'd probably not sign up to be the one to lead the charge on that one XD

You might be on to something... didn't know about Doximity until now—pretty interesting

@a16z
It's nice to find out how a trend starts and who was the first person to start it!
